Walker Remodel — Flagstaff, AZ

The Walker home is 1,700 square feet in Flagstaff, and it had a problem a lot of older homes have — a floor plan that made no sense. Rooms in the wrong places, poor flow, a layout that felt like it was designed without thinking about how people actually use a home. The clients needed more — specifically, a fourth bedroom — and they wanted the whole house to feel open and modern when it was done.

This wasn't a paint-and-fixtures job. We gutted the house to the studs and rebuilt it with a completely new layout. The floor plan was redesigned from scratch: walls moved, spaces reconfigured, the fourth bedroom added within the existing footprint. That kind of work requires planning, permits, and structural knowledge — you can't just swing a sledgehammer and hope it works out. We mapped it out, permitted it correctly, and built it the right way.

The kitchen was opened up to the main living area, which is the single most impactful change you can make in a home like this. A wall fireplace anchors the living space and gives the room a focal point it didn't have before. Granite countertops throughout the kitchen. The finishes throughout are clean and modern — nothing trendy, just well-chosen materials that work together and hold up.

Flagstaff's elevation and climate mean every project is permitted and engineered to local standards. Snow load, building codes, inspections — all handled as part of our normal process. The clients didn't have to manage any of that.

Seven months from start to finish. The result is a four-bedroom home with a layout that actually functions, an open modern interior, and finishes throughout that reflect the quality of work underneath them.
